3D Typeface (OUGD404)

Our second task with Amber was to create a 3D typeface with various pieces of the chosen letter and construct it in a way that could be seen as 3D with a viewing angle. We decided to create a lowercase a that would represent Helvetica.

My group and I started by creating a template that would be used to cut out the various pieces of the letter. Once we cut out to its letter in its appropriate size we decided to create a colour gradient within each piece of the letter.  We decided to stick one piece to the wall to give it further distance.  I believe the viewing angle was very important to our group because it was tiny and that’s what we wanted because then you wouldn’t need to look for the correct angle as it would be already set out for to you to view.

I was very satisfied with my group because we were worked well as a team and everyone contributed fairly even though there was some dispute towards the end. I do feel the task was appropriate because it helped us to communicate with one another as well as understanding the communication we wanted to send out. We wanted to communicate a letter which could be seen as 2D can also be seen working as 3D when looking in a different angle.
